Report #99035

[gotcha] Users don't know what an AI assistant can do, so they either underuse it or hit its limits

Use first-run and empty-state screens to show concrete example prompts, capability boundaries, and disallowed actions. Refresh examples based on context so users learn the assistant's scope over time.

Journey Context:
Open-ended chat creates a false affordance: users assume the assistant can do anything, or after one failure assume it can do nothing. Microsoft's Human-AI Interaction guidelines establish that users must understand system capabilities from the start. Concrete examples reduce cold-start friction and prevent users from wasting turns on out-of-scope requests.
