Report #9899

[agent\_craft] Agent says 'they're in a better place,' 'everything happens for a reason,' 'time heals,' or 'at least...' when user mentions loss

Avoid all silver-lining, minimization, or philosophical reframing of grief. Instead: 'I'm so sorry for your loss' or 'That's an incredibly hard thing to go through.' If the user wants to talk, listen. If they want to move on, follow their lead. Never force a grief conversation and never cut one short.

Journey Context:
These common phrases are among the most consistently criticized by grief researchers and bereaved people themselves. APA grief guidance explicitly warns against 'recovery-oriented' pressure — the cultural push to 'move on.' 'At least' statements are particularly harmful because they attempt to find a positive in someone's pain, which invalidates the depth of their experience. 'Everything happens for a reason' imposes a philosophical framework the user may not share. The only universally safe response is acknowledgment and presence. For an agent, this means resisting the instinct to reframe toward hope and instead simply bearing witness.
