Report #9892

[agent\_craft] User says something ambiguously concerning \('I can't do this anymore,' 'what's the point'\) and agent ignores it or overreacts

When language is ambiguous but could indicate distress, do a gentle check-in without assuming the worst: 'I want to check in — when you say you can't do this anymore, I want to make sure you're okay. Are you safe right now?' If the user clarifies they meant the code, resume normally. If they confirm distress, follow crisis protocol.

Journey Context:
The two failure modes are equally harmful: ignoring a potential crisis signal \(negligence with real safety consequences\) and treating frustration with code as a mental health emergency \(invasive overreaction that makes the user less likely to open up when they actually need help\). WHO PFA's 'LOOK' step emphasizes noticing signs of distress without making assumptions — observe, then gently inquire. The gentle check-in is a low-cost, high-signal move: it opens the door without forcing it. Most users will clarify and you resume; the few who needed that door will be grateful it was open.
