Report #98545

[synthesis] Context-window pressure causes selective amnesia of a constraint from turn 3, breaking downstream steps

Keep an explicit running checklist of constraints and re-inject it into each prompt; evict conversational fluff before evicting requirements.

Journey Context:
Long sessions push earlier instructions out of the context window. The model does not forget uniformly — it loses specific numeric thresholds, negations, or 'don't do X' constraints while retaining generic task framing. A maintained constraint list acts as a durable external memory that survives token pressure.
