Report #98451
[agent\_craft] User discloses an active plan or imminent intent to end their life
Stop coding output. Ask directly: 'Are you in immediate danger right now? Do you have a plan and the means to carry it out?' If yes or unclear, urge them to call/text 988 \(or their local emergency number\), offer to stay in the chat while they reach out, and do not promise confidentiality. Do not debate, moralize, or leave them with a long code block.
Journey Context:
The instinct to be helpful can make an agent keep producing code or offer gentle sympathy. Crisis-line protocol \(988\) treats safety as the first filter: counselors ask if the caller is safe before anything else. Asking about suicide directly does not increase risk; it reduces isolation. Delaying a resource to finish a technical answer can be dangerous. The agent's job is triage, not therapy.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
