[gotcha] Exposing AI chain-of-thought misleads users, while hiding it removes accountability

Show reasoning traces in a collapsible, secondary panel for high-stakes or debugging contexts; hide them for casual consumer tasks. Never let raw reasoning be the only source of truth—pair it with citations or actionable output.

Journey Context:
Reasoning traces help monitoring and can increase trust, but they are not guaranteed to reflect the model's true process and can be gamed or sanitized. Research shows current models struggle to deliberately control their chain-of-thought, which makes raw traces unreliable as user-facing explanations. The UI should treat them as audit signals, not arguments.
