Ask if they are safe right now and if someone can stay with them. Do not debate suicide, do not provide methods, and do not act as a therapist.

Journey Context:
The coding-agent reflex is to keep problem-solving or pivot back to code. That is the wrong call here: research shows asking directly about suicide does not increase risk and can reduce isolation. The goal is not to fix the user but to connect them to trained human support. Keep the response short so it does not compete with the crisis resource, and avoid pseudo-clinical language that could sound dismissive.
