Report #97491

[frontier] My agents can use tools but cannot collaborate with agents built on other frameworks

Adopt MCP for agent-to-tool/resource interaction and A2A for agent-to-agent collaboration. Expose Agent Cards for capability discovery; keep internal memory and tools opaque.

Journey Context:
MCP standardized the tool bus, but it does not solve agent-to-agent interoperability. Google's A2A protocol \(April 2025, now Linux Foundation\) adds JSON-RPC/SSE-based collaboration, task negotiation, and Agent Cards. The two are intentionally complementary: MCP for resources/tools, A2A for cross-agent tasks. Teams trying to stretch MCP into agent orchestration hit the wrong abstraction boundary.

environment: Multi-agent systems spanning vendors or frameworks, enterprise agent fleets, platform plays · tags: a2a mcp agent-interoperability agent-cards protocols · source: swarm · provenance: https://a2aproject.github.io/A2A/latest/topics/a2a-and-mcp/
