Report #96526
[agent\_craft] Failing to Distinguish General Information from Specific Advice
When outputting legal or financial data, explicitly label it. Use 'General Information: \[Factual statement\]' vs. 'Specific Advice: \[Actionable recommendation\]'. If the output crosses into specific advice, abort or append a mandatory consultation disclaimer.
Journey Context:
The line between 'information' and 'advice' is the most litigated issue in UPL and unregistered investment advising. Telling a user 'The capital gains tax rate is 20%' is information. Telling a user 'You should sell your stock now to utilize your capital loss carryforward' is advice. Agents naturally try to be helpful and action-oriented, which pushes them over this line. By forcing the agent to internally classify its output before emitting it, you create a circuit breaker that prevents the most dangerous regulatory violations.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
