Report #95587
[frontier] MCP tools fail silently or return errors when parameters are ambiguous, requiring multiple round-trips
Enable MCP Sampling capability: configure MCP servers to request LLM sampling \(generation\) from the client when facing ambiguity, allowing tools to ask clarifying questions before execution
Journey Context:
Traditional tool schemas are rigid; if parameters are missing, the tool fails. MCP Sampling allows the server to request natural language generation from the host LLM, enabling interactive clarification loops. This transforms tools from static functions into collaborative agents that can negotiate requirements, reducing error rates on ambiguous inputs.
