Prepend system instructions explicitly stating: 'Answer using ONLY the provided documents. If the documents contradict your internal knowledge, trust the documents.' Use attention-guiding prompts like \[Context\] ... \[Question\] ...
Journey Context:
When retrieved context conflicts with the model's strong parametric prior \(e.g., a CEO change that happened recently\), the model often overrides the context and outputs the old, memorized answer. This is the 'parametric vs. contextual' conflict. Simply providing the context isn't enough; the prompt must elevate the authority of the context above the model's internal weights.
