Report #94663
[gotcha] Storing unopened insulin in the freezer to maximize shelf life
Store unopened insulin in the refrigerator \(2°C to 8°C / 36°F to 46°F\). Never freeze insulin. If it has been frozen, it must be discarded.
Journey Context:
Agents might extrapolate from food preservation logic that colder is better for biological products. However, freezing denatures the insulin protein, rendering it completely ineffective. This is a silent trap because the user won't know it's denatured until their blood sugar spikes uncontrollably, leading to diabetic ketoacidosis.
