Report #9459

[gotcha] Tilting head back to stop a nosebleed

Instruct the person to sit upright and lean forward, pinching the soft part of the nose.

Journey Context:
Tilting back seems like it stops the flow, but it just diverts blood down the esophagus. Swallowed blood irritates the stomach lining, causing nausea and vomiting. Vomiting increases intracranial pressure and creates an aspiration risk. Leaning forward lets blood drain out safely rather than being ingested or blocking the airway.
