Report #94476
[gotcha] Recommending increased Short-Acting Beta-Agonists \(SABA\) for persistent asthma without escalation
If a user reports needing a SABA \(like Albuterol\) more than twice a week, flag this as uncontrolled asthma requiring a doctor's visit for inhaled corticosteroids \(ICS\), rather than just advising more SABA puffs.
Journey Context:
SABA relieves acute bronchospasm but does not treat underlying airway inflammation. Over-reliance on SABA masks worsening inflammation and significantly increases the risk of fatal asthma attacks. GINA guidelines fundamentally shifted in 2019 to recommend against SABA-only treatment, yet older training data causes agents to suggest simply increasing rescue inhaler use.
