Report #94262

[gotcha] Can I treat a suspected stroke by waiting to see if symptoms improve?

Seek immediate emergency care for any stroke symptom \(FAST: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call 911\). Do not wait or 'sleep it off'.

Journey Context:
Stroke symptoms \(like mild facial droop or arm weakness\) can sometimes fluctuate or seem minor \(as in a TIA\). People often wait to see if it gets better. But brain cells die by the minute. The 'last known well' time dictates treatment eligibility for life-saving interventions like tPA \(within 3-4.5 hours\). Waiting silently eliminates these options and worsens permanent brain damage.
