Report #93710
[gotcha] Displaying raw Chain of Thought destroys user trust
Hide intermediate reasoning steps by default; only surface a summarized, sanitized version on demand, or just show the final output.
Journey Context:
It seems logical that showing the AI's reasoning \(Chain of Thought\) would build trust through transparency. The gotcha: CoT is prone to minor hallucinations or bizarre logical leaps that the model self-corrects before the final answer. Users see the intermediate error, lose trust in the final answer, and judge the system as unreliable. Trust is often higher when the system just gives the right answer confidently.
