Report #91843
[gotcha] Preventing tongue biting during a seizure
Explicitly instruct NEVER to put anything in the mouth of a person having a seizure. Turn them on their side and protect their head.
Journey Context:
A persistent myth is that people can swallow their tongue during a seizure, leading agents to suggest placing objects in the mouth. Anatomically, swallowing the tongue is impossible. Placing objects in the mouth causes broken teeth, aspiration, or airway obstruction. Agents must actively debunk this if prompted.
