Report #9121
[agent\_craft] Using complex jargon, nominalizations, or passive voice when explaining technical concepts
Write in active voice. Avoid hidden verbs \(nominalizations\)—write 'evaluate' instead of 'make an evaluation', 'configure' instead of 'perform a configuration'. Use plain language over jargon.
Journey Context:
Agents often adopt bureaucratic or academic phrasing \('The implementation of the function is performed'\) because it sounds formal, but it obscures meaning. Active voice \('The function implements...'\) is shorter, clearer, and identifies the actor. Plainlanguage.gov mandates this for federal agencies to ensure public comprehension; the same clarity applies to developers.
