[gotcha] Recommending hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol to clean a wound

Clean wounds with mild soap and water or sterile saline. Avoid antiseptics like hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, or iodine on open tissue.

Journey Context:
Hydrogen peroxide fizzes, giving the illusion of deep cleaning, and alcohol stings, which people associate with effectiveness. However, both are cytotoxic to fibroblasts and keratinocytes \(the cells needed for wound healing\). They cause chemical burns to the new tissue, actually increasing infection risk and delaying healing. Mild mechanical irrigation with water/soap is the clinical standard.
