Invest deeply in prompt engineering as a first-class software engineering discipline; only fine-tune for cost/latency reduction or style alignment after prompt limits are hit.

In reality, fine-tuning is rigid, expensive to update, and bad for changing facts. Prompting is dynamic, testable, and allows immediate updates. The best systems use complex, engineered prompts \(often generated by other LLMs\) because they offer flexibility that fine-tuning cannot match.
