Report #87793

[gotcha] AI responses feel insincere or annoying due to overly enthusiastic sycophancy

Explicitly instruct the model in the system prompt to adopt a neutral, direct tone and to avoid filler phrases, apologies, and excessive enthusiasm.

Journey Context:
Default models are RLHF'd to be extremely polite and helpful, which translates to sycophancy and filler text \('Great question\!'\). In consumer UIs this is annoying; in B2B or enterprise tools it destroys trust and makes the AI seem incompetent. Developers leave the default persona. The tradeoff is friendliness vs. efficiency. Directness wins for professional tools.
