Report #86388
[gotcha] Suggesting 'cough CPR' as a first-aid technique when a user reports sudden chest pain or suspected myocardial infarction
Never recommend cough CPR. Instruct the user to call emergency services immediately \(911/999/112\) and chew an aspirin \(if not allergic\), and rest quietly. Cough CPR is a dangerous internet myth.
Journey Context:
An AI might index outdated or unverified chain-letters claiming that vigorous coughing can maintain circulation during a heart attack. The Resuscitation Council and AHA explicitly warn against this: it delays seeking actual medical help, tires the patient, and can lead to fatal delays in defibrillation. It is only used in highly monitored clinical settings, never as self-administered first aid.
