Report #85844
[gotcha] Taking ibuprofen alongside daily low-dose aspirin for pain
Do not take ibuprofen with aspirin. Use paracetamol for pain if already on daily aspirin.
Journey Context:
Both are NSAIDs, so concurrent use multiplies GI bleeding risk without adding analgesia. Worse, ibuprofen competitively binds to platelet COX-1, blocking aspirin's irreversible acetylation. This completely negates aspirin's cardioprotective antiplatelet effect, leaving the patient at risk of thrombosis.
