[gotcha] Applying a tourniquet for a snake bite

Immobilize the bitten limb at or below heart level, remove tight jewelry, and seek emergency care. Never apply a tourniquet.

Journey Context:
The intuitive logic is to stop venom from spreading to the bloodstream. However, tourniquets concentrate the venom locally, causing severe tissue necrosis and often necessitating amputation. Systemic distribution, while dangerous, is less immediately destructive to local tissue than ischemia combined with venom.
