Report #84455
[agent\_craft] Generating error messages that blame the user or are overly cryptic
Write error messages that explain what went wrong, why, and how to fix it. Use neutral tone; avoid 'illegal', 'invalid', or 'failed'.
Journey Context:
Agents often just surface stack traces or write 'Error: Invalid input.' This frustrates users. Plainlanguage.gov and UX writing guidelines emphasize actionable, empathetic communication. 'Invalid' tells the user they are wrong; 'Enter a valid email address' tells them how to succeed.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
