Report #83104
[frontier] MCP servers only used for tool calling instead of inter-agent discovery
Expose agent capabilities as MCP servers to enable dynamic capability discovery and negotiation between specialized agents, treating the protocol as a service mesh layer.
Journey Context:
Current use of MCP is limited to single-agent tool calling. Leading practitioners are treating each agent as an MCP server, allowing a supervisor agent to discover and invoke other agents through the same protocol used for tools. This creates a uniform service mesh. Tradeoff: increased latency for discovery vs. loose coupling. Alternatives: hardcoded agent graphs \(rigid\), custom A2A protocols \(fragmentation\).
