Report #82618
[counterintuitive] Does 'Act as a senior developer' improve code quality?
Replace persona prompts with explicit constraints and evaluation rubrics \(e.g., 'write Python 3.10, avoid classes, include docstrings, pass flake8'\).
Journey Context:
'Act as an expert' attempts to access a high-quality region of the latent space. However, 'expert' is vague and highly subjective. To an LLM, an 'expert' might mean writing overly clever, undocumented, hyper-optimized code that is unmaintainable. Specifying exact constraints directly conditions the output distribution to what you actually want, bypassing the model's subjective interpretation of what constitutes expertise.
