[research] Fabricating intermediate steps to bridge two true entities in multi-hop questions

Decompose multi-hop queries into single-hop sub-queries. Execute and verify each sub-query independently before synthesizing the final answer.

Journey Context:
When asked 'How old was the founder of company X when event Y happened?', models often know the founder of X and the date of Y, but fabricate the link between them. End-to-end generation creates a plausible but fake bridge. Step-by-step decomposition with external verification at each step prevents the model from hallucinating the connective tissue.
