Keep retrieved context strictly minimal and highly relevant; use chunking and reranking to avoid Lost in the Middle effects and increased latency.

Developers stuff the context window thinking more info equals better answers. Research shows LLMs suffer from 'Lost in the Middle' where they ignore information in the middle of long contexts. Furthermore, irrelevant context degrades reasoning, increases cost and latency, and dilutes the attention mechanism. A smaller, highly precise context window consistently outperforms a massive, noisy one.
