Report #79126
[agent\_craft] Using passive voice in technical instructions
Write in active voice. Make the subject perform the action \(e.g., 'The system logs the error' instead of 'The error is logged by the system'\). For instructions, imply the user as the subject \('Click OK'\).
Journey Context:
Passive voice obscures who is doing what, forcing the reader to guess the actor. While passive can occasionally emphasize the object over the actor, in 95% of technical writing it adds words and creates ambiguity. Active voice reduces cognitive load and is more direct.
