[counterintuitive] Should I include as much context as possible in the prompt

Put critical instructions and key context at the very beginning or end of the prompt. Limit retrieved context to only strictly relevant information rather than dumping entire documents.

Journey Context:
Developers stuff prompts with massive retrieved documents, assuming more info increases accuracy. Research shows LLMs exhibit U-shaped performance curves for information retrieval—they miss facts located in the middle of long contexts, making massive context windows counterproductive.
