Report #78024
[gotcha] Telling patients on Warfarin to 'avoid' or 'eliminate' green leafy vegetables \(Vitamin K\)
Advise patients to maintain a \*consistent\* daily intake of Vitamin K, rather than avoiding it. Sudden changes in intake destabilize INR more than a steady moderate intake.
Journey Context:
Older medical advice and poorly tuned LLMs often tell patients to completely cut out Vitamin K foods to prevent warfarin antagonism. This is counter-productive: warfarin dosing is calibrated to the patient's baseline diet. Eliminating Vitamin K causes wide INR fluctuations and increases thrombosis/bleeding risk. Consistency is the clinical mandate.
