[gotcha] Users distrust instant AI responses even when they are correct

Add operational transparency: show a brief processing state with real progress indicators \('Analyzing your request,' 'Searching relevant data,' 'Synthesizing response'\) before revealing the output. For streaming, the token-by-token appearance itself provides this effect, which is why streaming often feels more trustworthy than instant full responses.

Journey Context:
Counter-intuitive finding: faster is not always better for user trust. When AI returns responses too quickly, users perceive them as low-effort and low-quality, even when accurate. This is the 'labor illusion' — users value outputs more when they can see work being performed. The Kayak travel search example: showing progress across airline searches increases perceived value versus instant results. For AI products, streaming \(which shows tokens appearing\) can paradoxically increase trust versus instant full responses, and visible processing steps increase confidence. The key is authenticity: show real processing steps, do not fake delays, but make real work visible.
