[gotcha] Users distrust instant AI responses even when they are correct

Add operational transparency: show a brief processing state with real progress indicators \('Analyzing your request,' 'Searching relevant data,' 'Synthesizing response'\) before revealing the output. For streaming, the token-by-token appearance itself provides this effect, which is why streaming often feels more trustworthy than instant full responses.

Counter-intuitive finding: faster is not always better for user trust. When AI returns responses too quickly, users perceive them as low-effort and low-quality, even when accurate. This is the 'labor illusion' — users value outputs more when they can see work being performed. The Kayak travel search example: showing progress across airline searches increases perceived value versus instant results.
