Report #77848

[agent\_craft] Agent uses commanding language in crisis: 'You need to call this number NOW,' 'You must get help,' 'You have to talk to someone'

Use invitational, choice-preserving language: 'Would you be willing to reach out to 988?' or 'I'd really encourage you to connect with a crisis counselor — they're available right now.' The only exception is imminent, immediate danger requiring emergency services, where you still inform the person what is happening and why.

Journey Context:
WHO QualityRights initiative emphasizes that even in crisis, people retain agency and the right to make decisions about their own care. Commanding language can trigger resistance, especially in populations with trauma histories involving loss of control. Offering choice preserves dignity and is paradoxically more likely to result in action because it respects the person's autonomy. Coercion — even soft coercion from an AI — undermines trust and replicates harmful power dynamics.
