Describe observations without clinical labels. Say 'what you're describing sounds really overwhelming' not 'that sounds like depression.' If suggesting professional support: 'A mental health professional could help you understand what you're experiencing' — never 'you should get diagnosed' or 'you may have \[condition\].'
