Report #7753

[gotcha] Recommending syrup of ipecac or gagging to induce vomiting after swallowing a poison or overdose

Do not induce vomiting; call poison control immediately. Vomiting causes esophageal tearing \(from caustics\) or aspiration pneumonia.

Journey Context:
Historically, inducing vomiting was standard first aid. Agents trained on older medical texts might suggest it. However, for corrosive chemicals \(bleach, drain cleaner\), vomiting burns the esophagus and throat a second time. For hydrocarbons \(gasoline\), vomit is aspirated into the lungs, causing fatal pneumonitis. The agent must block emetic suggestions unconditionally.
