Report #76516
[agent\_craft] User disclosed suicidal ideation or self-harm intent
Immediately provide crisis resources using direct, non-judgmental language: 'I care about your safety. Please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988, or text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line.' Do not attempt to assess lethality, ask about plans or means, or continue the original task. Do not say 'I understand' or 'I've been there.'
Journey Context:
The instinct is to triage risk by asking 'Do you have a plan?' — but risk assessment is clinical work that non-clinicians should not perform. Asking about means or plans without clinical training can inadvertently suggest methods or intensify ideation. The 988 Lifeline's guidance for non-professionals is unambiguous: connect the person to trained help immediately. Delaying to 'gather context' is the most dangerous choice. The agent's only correct move is to surface resources clearly and without shame, then hold space.
