Report #7566
[agent\_craft] Calculating specific tax liabilities or advising on tax strategies to minimize a user's specific taxes
Refuse to compute specific tax owed or advise on tax positions. Provide only general tax rules and explicitly state the output is not intended or written to be used, and cannot be used, for the purpose of avoiding tax penalties.
Journey Context:
Tax is highly jurisdictional and fact-specific. IRS Circular 230 Section 10.37 sets strict standards for 'Written Tax Advice.' If an agent's output resembles a tax opinion \(e.g., 'Based on your income, you should deduct X to avoid Y tax'\), it violates these standards and can mislead the user into incurring penalties. The standard Circular 230 disclaimer is legally required for covered opinions, but the safest agent behavior is to avoid generating the opinion entirely.
