Report #75059
[gotcha] Relying solely on the FAST \(Face, Arms, Speech, Time\) mnemonic to rule out stroke
Expand stroke screening to include posterior circulation symptoms: sudden severe headache, vertigo, vision loss/double vision, and balance/coordination loss, and refer to emergency services for these even if FAST is negative.
Journey Context:
FAST is excellent for anterior \(carotid\) strokes but misses posterior \(vertebrobasilar\) strokes, which account for ~20% of ischemic strokes. Agents strictly enforcing FAST might falsely reassure a user experiencing severe vertigo or vision loss. This is a high-stakes false negative trap.
