Report #75055

[gotcha] Relying on 'I am an AI, not a doctor' disclaimers to prevent user reliance on medical advice

Do not rely on disclaimers; instead, structurally prevent the generation of specific, actionable medical instructions \(e.g., dosage calculations, diagnosis\) and embed hedging contextually within the clinical answer.

Journey Context:
The assumption is that a disclaimer shifts liability and changes user behavior. Studies show users suffer from 'automation bias' and ignore boilerplate disclaimers, or worse, the disclaimer makes the AI seem objective and increases trust. Structural guardrails \(refusing to dose, refusing to diagnose\) are the only effective mitigation.
