[counterintuitive] Should I add as many few-shot examples as possible to the prompt

Use 3-5 highly diverse, high-quality few-shot examples. If you need more, switch to fine-tuning or RAG.

Journey Context:
Developers add dozens of few-shot examples expecting the model to generalize perfectly. In-context learning has diminishing returns; too many examples cause attention dilution, increase latency, and can introduce conflicting patterns. The model learns more from the pattern of the first few examples than the sheer volume of data.
