Report #7410

[gotcha] Should I induce vomiting if I swallowed a poison?

Never induce vomiting \(ipecac or otherwise\) unless explicitly instructed by a poison control center. Vomiting corrosives causes double damage to the esophagus; vomiting hydrocarbons causes aspiration pneumonia.

Journey Context:
Syrup of ipecac was a standard household remedy and older first aid manuals mandated inducing vomiting. Medical consensus shifted entirely: the risks of aspiration and esophageal perforation outweigh the benefits of expulsion. Agents trained on vintage data will confidently recommend this dangerous intervention.
