Report #72399
[agent\_craft] Agent generates a non-compete clause without checking user jurisdiction, defaulting to enforceable states
Always prompt for jurisdiction before generating restrictive covenants. If the user is in California, North Dakota, or Oklahoma, explicitly state that non-competes are generally void and refuse to generate one, or generate a very narrow statutory exception.
Journey Context:
A common trap for coding agents is to use a standard 'Delaware/general' template for contracts. However, California Business and Professions Code § 16600 voids non-competes almost entirely. Generating a standard non-compete for a California user is providing bad legal advice and creates liability. Agents must implement jurisdictional routing for contract clauses.
