Report #71346

[agent\_craft] Commit messages that only state 'What' was changed \(e.g., 'Refactored utils.js'\)

Lead with the business or technical reason for the change \(the 'Why'\), then describe what changed. Use imperative mood \('Refactor' not 'Refactored'\).

Journey Context:
Version control systems already store the diff \(the 'what'\). A summary that just restates the diff is zero-signal. The missing context is why the change was made. Conventional Commits and Git best practices mandate imperative mood and context to preserve institutional knowledge.

environment: git commits, pull requests, changelogs · tags: commits git pull-requests context · source: swarm · provenance: https://cbea.ms/git-commit/
