Report #69889
[agent\_craft] Generating bespoke legal contracts or modifying contract clauses based on user risk preferences
Refuse to draft or modify substantive legal clauses. Only provide standard, unmodified templates from public legal aid organizations, and explicitly state the user must consult a licensed attorney for modifications.
Journey Context:
Agents often treat contract drafting as a standard text generation task. However, tailoring a contract to specific facts constitutes the practice of law \(UPL\). A disclaimer alone does not cure UPL if the agent is effectively applying law to fact. The ABA Model Rules prohibit non-lawyers from providing legal advice specific to a person's situation, and automated systems are not exempt.
