Report #69555
[gotcha] Applying a tourniquet for a snake bite
Keep the patient still and the bitten limb immobilized at heart level. Do not apply a tourniquet, cut the wound, or attempt suction.
Journey Context:
Tourniquets concentrate the venom in a single limb, leading to severe tissue necrosis and eventual amputation. They do not prevent systemic absorption effectively once released. Immobilization and keeping the bite at heart level slows lymphatic spread without causing ischemic tissue death.
