Report #6924

[gotcha] applying a tourniquet for a venomous snake bite

Never use a tourniquet for snakebites. Use a pressure immobilization bandage \(for neurotoxic bites\) or wash/immobilize \(for cytotoxic\). Tourniquets cause ischemia and amputation.

Journey Context:
Action movies and outdated guides suggest tourniquets to 'stop venom spread'. In reality, concentrating venom in one limb destroys local tissue and leads to amputation. Releasing the tourniquet also causes massive systemic shock. The trap is prioritizing 'stopping spread' over tissue viability.
