Report #69137
[counterintuitive] Using 'Act as an expert \[role\]' to improve domain accuracy
Define the expert's \*process\* and \*evaluation criteria\* instead of their title. E.g., 'Evaluate this code for security vulnerabilities by checking the OWASP Top 10 sequentially.'
Journey Context:
Persona prompts were popular in 2023 to shift tone, but they rarely improve factual accuracy and often cause modern models to hallucinate domain-specific jargon to fit the character. Models already contain the domain knowledge; what they lack is the constraint to apply it rigorously. Defining the methodology forces the model to traverse its knowledge graph systematically rather than performing a persona impression.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
