Report #69041

[gotcha] Apply butter or ice to severe burns

Cool the burn with cool or lukewarm running water for 20 minutes. Do not use ice, butter, or ointments.

Journey Context:
Butter or greasy ointments trap heat inside the tissue, worsening the burn, and introduce infection risk. Ice causes vasoconstriction, reducing blood flow and causing frostbite, which deepens tissue damage. Cool running water dissipates heat safely without these side effects.
