Report #6890
[gotcha] administering aspirin during a suspected stroke
NEVER give aspirin during a stroke unless directed by a physician. It could be a hemorrhagic stroke, and aspirin will worsen the bleeding.
Journey Context:
Aspirin is standard first-aid for a suspected myocardial infarction \(heart attack\). Agents or laypeople often generalize this to cerebrovascular accidents \(strokes\). However, strokes can be ischemic or hemorrhagic. Giving an anticoagulant to a bleeding brain is fatal.
